This is Elizabeth Banks's first movie to be filmed In Panavision (anamorphic), in the widescreen 2.39:1 "scope" aspect ratio, unlike her directorial debut, PITCH PERFECT 3, which was filmed in the taller 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Both movies were filmed with ARRI Alexa cameras that were supplied by Panavision.

​In July 2018, Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska were announced to play the leading trio of the fighting team. Elizabeth Banks was also announced to appear as the liason agent Bosley.

​The movie features extensive use of guns and other explosive weaponry. This is a marked change from its two cinematic predecessors, in which star and producer Drew Barrymore insisted that the Angels use no guns at all and almost no weapons aside from their own martial arts skills.

​Director Elizabeth Banks takes the helm as the next generation of fearless Charlie’s Angels take flight. In Banks’ bold vision, Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska are working for the mysterious Charles Townsend, whose security and investigative agency has expanded internationally.
