MOVIE REVIEWS - 2016
2016 had some stunning success stories as far as Box Office was concerned. Perhaps the best was Deadpool. An R-rated, Comic Book-inspired, Action Comedy was not supposed to make over $700 million in ticket sales, but, with Ryan Reynolds as the titular character, that's exactly what happened. Quentin Tarantino also gave audiences his 8th film, with the blood-soaked Western-themed Thriller, The Hateful Eight. Batman, Superman and The Avengers all returned, as did Jason Bourne, the Ghostbusters and the Star Trek crew, but it was the back-end of 2016, with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Doctor Strange and the Fantastic Beasts pulling audiences in cinemas around the globe.

Australian Horror movies can be very hit or miss, but 2016's Scare Campaign manages to serve up just enough thrills, gore and twists to keep the viewer hooked. Hardcore Henry didn't get a wide theatrical release in Australia, which is a shame, because its such a unique piece of film making, to see it on a big screen could further enhance the experience or could be vomit-inducing due to the sheer madness of the constantly-on-the-go story! |
