MOVIE REVIEWS - 1973
1973 saw sequels to popular series, including BATTLE FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, a new "Dirty Harry" case with MAGNUM FORCE and a new James Bond, with Roger Moore stepping out for the first time as James Bond in LIVE AND LET DIE.
WESTWORLD and SOYLENT GREEN were interesting Science Fiction ideas, but neither could be considered classics. Nicholas Roeg's DON'T LOOK NOW and Robin Hardy's THE WICKER MAN were largely ignored upon release, but both films have gone on to become classics, finding their audiences (and fans) over a long period of time. The big film of 1973 was THE EXORCIST... a $400 million box office result and a swag of award nominations made THE EXORCIST not just one of the most successful Horror films of all time, but also pne of the most successful films ever. |
