1999 movie highlights

THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT...

All of these films are worthy of consideration for the best genre film of 1999.

No matter which way you look at it, the film that had the most lasting impact from 1999 was THE MATRIX.

The Wachowskis (as they are noe referred to) did for Science Fiction films what Quentin Tarantino did for Crime films with PULP FICTION. That's not to suggest for a moment that THE MATRIX  is anywhere as good as PULP FICTION, but the unfluence it exerted upon filmmakers for the next decade makes it 1999's most important genre film.
